First of all I hate rating books because if I read it and I write anything about it then it has value to me!!!! I got this book based on all the books read by this author have been entertaining with occasional great words of wisdom and insight. So word to the wise, if I take the time to write about it and review it then it is worth the reading. The ones I don’t want to highlight are tucked in my book that is mine alone to critique.
All of Sally Hepworth’s books have twist and turns and characters that you love one minute and possibly doubt their motives the next, much like real life!!! I love watching characters develop into the true authentic and vulnerable yet courageous selves.
So in keeping with always being on the look out for a pearl of wisdom in all books including fiction I want to share a couple of nuggets that stood out for me.
“The road to our destination leads us in a direction we don’t want to take. But does it matter, in the end, if it gets us where we want to go?” Hmmmm, yes I think for me it does matter but I know I have for sure taken some really wrong turns to get to the right ones for me.
“It’s as if, while living your life, you view the world through a straw. You see only the tiniest sliver, all of it from your own perspective. Other people have their motives, their backstories, their feelings, but you don’t know that unless they share them with you.”
The older I get the more I know to question what I believe and especially when it comes to judging a book or humans. There is way more buried in their pages. The more I get to know them the better off all of us are.
Here is to a new year of reading adventure!!!!
stay tuned for all my happy ass reads!!!
grateful,
